We regret to inform our readers that Digital Camera, Imaging and Media Show 2011 (DCIM), will be postponed until later part of this year due to the disruption of various related goods and products as a result of the devastating earthquake in Japan. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this tragedy and we respect current conditions which will likely prevent us from organizing a great show for photography enthusiasts. We seek your kind understanding in this matter and do look forward to seeing you at a later date this year at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre! Do look out for the official announcement which will be coming in due time. For enquiries, kindly email us at dcim@velocity-media.net

ABOUT EARTH HOUR
Earth Hour - ChileEarth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating. Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries/territories officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

On Saturday 27 March, Earth Hour 2010 became the biggest Earth Hour ever. A record 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.

Earth Hour 2011 will take place on Saturday 26 March at 8.30PM (local time). This Earth Hour we want you to go beyond the hour, so after the lights go back on think about what else you can do to make a difference. Together our actions add up.

Visit our Beyond the Hour platform to share your stories and to get inspiration from the actions our supporters have shared with us already.

Read more from Earth Hour Homepage.

OK, What Can You Do?
Please support Earth Hour by switch off your light at 26 March 2011, 8.30-9.30pm.

It is NOT done yet. The most important part is, within this 60 minutes, please set your camera in long shutter mode, and prepare a light source (such as torchlight), and do some light painting..!!

Here is a good example:

Please share your light painting photo on my wall (I AM MODEL) when you are done. Everyone can join no matter you are photographer or model, have fun.

3rd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2011

Hot air balloons will once again dot the sky over Putrajaya as the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will take place for its third year from 17th-20th MAR 2011. More than 20 balloonists from 13 countries, including USA, Switzerland, Japan, Germany, France, Thailand and of course, Malaysia will be featured in this year’s event. First-time participants from India, Vietnam and Hong Kong will also join the festival.

The hot air balloons will take off twice a day, from 7AM to 9AM and from 5:30PM to 7PM, at a height of not more than 304.8m and within 5km radius of the event site. While the hot air balloon flights would not be opened to the public, five hot air balloons rented by the Putrajaya Corporation would be available for tethered rides at RM10 per adult and RM5 per child, from 8AM to 11AM and from 6PM to 9PM.

On the night of 19th MAR 2011, there would be a nightglow display of the hot air balloons which occurs after sunset, where the balloons will look like huge light bulbs, and followed by a fireworks display. This is also the highlight of this year’s event. Other activities include helicopter rides, water ball or sphere rides, lake cruise, wall-climbing, paintball and archery. For children, there would be colouring and paper aeroplane contests. The four-day event will also showcase other flying events featuring paramotor, remote control planes or helicopters, aero models, and professional kite flying.

This year, the festival is expected to see an increase in the number of attendees compared to years past. The inaugural and second fiestas, which were held in MAR 2009 and 2010, were estimated to have attracted 150,000 and 250,000 spectators respectively.

Please head on to HERE or by calling at 603-7981 8769/8712 for more details. You may also join the fiesta’s Facebook page or follow at Twitter.
